The Kedge Hook Files: Twenty Five Years of the L.S.T and Landing Craft Association

Price: £12.95

The Kedge Hook Files: Twenty Five Years of the L.S.T and Landing Craft Association, English Language Edition. By Colin Brian Buckenham

The Kedge Hook Files commemorates 25 years of the L.S.T. Landing Craft Association and its magazine The Kedge Hook. This book has been produced to commemorate the laying up of the National Standard and closure of the L.S.T. & Landing Craft Association twenty five years after its foundation. During that quarter century almost one hundred editions of the association newsletters were issued to members. This volume is made up of a selection of reports from those newsletters reflecting the history of the association together with a unique collection of articles written by the membership sharing some of their experiences and tribulations whilst serving on Landing Craft. To quote S/M Ray Self from his contribution to the book Sainfoin's War 'The friendship between Shipmates can be explained, but it lasts forever'. I think that this sentiment is evident when reading this volume. The book contains 260 pages of articles and photographs.

The Kedge Hook - The Photo Files: A Unique Collection of Personal Photographs from Members and Friends of the L.S.T. and Landing Craft Association

Price: £12.99

The Kedge Hook - The Photo Files: A Unique Collection of Personal Photographs from Members and Friends of the L.S.T. and Landing Craft Association, English Language Edition. By Colin Brian Buckenham

The Photo Files is a unique collection of personal photographs from members and friends of The L.S.T. and Landing Craft Association. It all began shortly after the author took the helm of The Kedge Hook, the quarterly magazine produced for The L.S.T. and Landing Craft Association from it's former editor Jack Culshaw. While sharing a taxi to attend an association national committee meeting S/M Jack made a chance remark that he was quite often asked by association members and readers of the magazine if he was able to send them copies of photographs that had been printed in its pages. Both agreed that this would not really practical but then they started talking about how they could perhaps gather together some of the more interesting photos and put them into a small booklet which could then be offered to the association members. After some time they had gathered together a small collection but far too few to make a viable publication. By this time S/M Jack had also become ill and shortly before he 'Crossed The Bar' at the end of September 2006 they had a telephone conversation where the subject of the photograph collection was again raised. They agreed that it might be a good idea if the author was to put a notice in the Kedge Hook asking if members would like to send him their personal photographs so that an album could be produced that would be available to all. Originally they had intended to produce this in booklet form because they didn't think enough photographs would be received to set their sights any higher. How wrong they were. Over the coming months the association members contributed hundreds of photographs. Some couldn't be used because of copyright reasons and others because they were of such poor quality, but they ended up with the unique collection that has nowbecome 'The Kedge Hook - The Photo Files.'

This is a revised edition of the first public release of Sainfoin's War, a living history of H.M.S. Sainfoin. Originally written by W.J. Mitchell it has been continually updated with further stories from shipmates who proudly served on her. Following the sad death of Walt the mantle has been taken up by Colin Buckenham, the editor of 'The Kedge Hook', a magazine produced for the members of the L.S.T. and Landing Craft Association. He continues the work of keeping the project alive. This is the result of their labours and is now complete. Complete, that is, until another shipmate returns to the fold to add their memories to the collection.

Ta Ta and God Bless

Ta Ta and God Bless: Picture Postcards to and from the Trenches

Price: £9.99

Ta Ta and God Bless: Picture Postcards to and from the Trenches. By Paul Edwards, illustrated by Roger Challoner

Picture postcards to and from the trenches. It all began with an old biscuit tin. I first saw it when I was a child. It was in a cupboard in one of the spare rooms and there it stayed, forgotten. Many years later I came across it again, more or less where I'd last seen it. This time curiosity got the better of me and I opened it...........
